This Calling

We feel honored, privileged, humbled, and thankful to be on this adoption journey.  We are certainly called by our Father to adopt, and we are deeply moved that He would chose us to get to experience an earthly version of our heavenly adoption as His forever sons and daughters.  The truth is, we are all called to care for the fatherless.  There are many more Scripture references for this and many books I can suggest (start with Dr. Moore’s Adopted for Life).

Deuteronomy 10:18..."He executes justice for the fatherless......."

Psalm 68:5..."Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in His holy habitation..."

Psalm 82:3...."Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute..."

Psalm 146:9...."...He upholds the widow and the fatherless...."

Isaiah 1:17...."...bring justice to the fatherless..."

John 14:18, from the mouth of Jesus Himself to us...."I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

There are many ways to get involved in caring for the orphan....

-Volunteer with (un)adopted, Lifeline’s orphan care ministry that seeks to partner with the local church across the world to serve and share the Gospel with the less than 1/10th of 1% of the 143+million orphans who will not be adopted.  www.unadopted.org

-Support an adoptive family with your prayers, encouragement, and/or finances.

-Bring meals and offer house work for adoptive families newly home bonding with their children

-Foster a child or children www.lifelinechild.org

-Help a family raise money to adopt

-Help raise awareness

-Start an adoption ministry at your church www.lifesong.org

-Pray without ceasing for the fatherless, the orphan, the widow

-Mentor a birth mother who is making a loving, self-less decision to place her baby with a family who can provide the care she desires for her child

-Be open.  Open to where the Lord is leading and guiding you.  Open to adoptive families and all of their children.
